  UC Boxes!

  “I can’t find good, cheap boxes to store my stuff for the summer anywhere.”

  “Oh Davey! The UC sells boxes, why don’t you go by your boxes from them? I hear they are selling masking tape too.”

  OK, so you have about a week and a half left before school starts, and you’re in need of some cheap, quality boxes to store your stuff.  The UC’s got ‘em.

  Restructuring - to CLC or not to CLC

   Hey gang, this seems like a good topic on which to get the ol’ blog going with some action.  As you probably know, I support the 2×2 proposal (to cut the Campus Life Committee [CLC], whose mission will be all but nil in the fall after the establishment of the College Events Board), largely because the UC has already committed to cutting the CLC as we expressed in 24S-44 which created the Events Board.  The vote on this proposal is still ongoing - the choice right now is between maintaining CLC and cutting CLC.  Like it or not, there are only two choices in this vote and, yes, they are that simple: (a) keep the superstructure of a bygone CLC or (b) moult in order to adapt with a changing context.  The way I see it, CLC defines excess fat/bureaucracy unless there’s a reason I’m not seeing for keeping it around, so probably the best way to sway people like me over to the pro-CLC side would be:

  1. a rational explanation for keeping CLC around, for better reason than allowing current representatives to keep their seats; and/or
  2. hearing the voice of non-UC people in favor of keeping CLC (as far as I’ve heard and read, I can’t think of a single person OUTSIDE of the UC who opposes 2×2).

  It seems rather unreasonable for any member of the UC to vote against 2×2 without a strong response to at least one of these two queries.  Can anybody help me out here?  My vote is in favor of 2×2, but perhaps that’s just because I’ve yet to hear some great argument that’s out there in favor of keeping the defunct CLC around?

  Please respond if you have any opinion or interest.  Whether you’re on the UC or not, I’d love to hear some discussion on this!
